Suffolk Construction, the contractor for the South Station Air Rights Project, will continue daytime and overnight construction at South Station.
Please allow extra time (5 – 10 minutes) as you get used to new construction zones and paths of travel at the station. Trains might arrive and depart on a different track than what is typical. Be sure to check your track number before boarding.
UPCOMING ACTIVITY ON TRACK AND PLATFORMS
The station doors that provide access to Tracks 9 and 10 are now closed. For now, passengers can use Doors 1-8 to access the outdoor concourse and platforms.
In the next few weeks, we will be replacing the station doors that provide access to Tracks 1 and 2. During construction, passengers will need to use Doors 3-8 to access the outdoor concourse and platforms.
The contractor continues to perform work to shorten the tracks. Currently, Tracks 1 through 6 are complete, and trains on those tracks now stop approximately one coach length farther away from the sliding entrance doors to the station. This work will continue on the remaining tracks in October. Once track work is complete, the sections of track no longer in use will be infilled and the outdoor concourse area expanded. This will provide increased space for passenger circulation and establishment of the Tower Work Zone.
UPCOMING ACTIVITY IN SOUTH STATION
Some of the kiosks within South Station are in the process of relocating. This relocation should be complete before the end of the year.
UPCOMING ACTIVITY ON THE OUTDOOR OVERHEAD CANOPY
The contractor has begun to remove the canopy structure that extends from the station entrance over the outdoor concourse area. Passengers may experience re-routing around temporary work areas while this work is being completed.

Passersby may notice demolition work near the entrance to South Station on Atlantic Avenue. Work will be performed behind construction barriers. Pedestrian travel will be maintained at all times and clearly delineated.
