Sliding door access is now available between the terminal and concourse at the ends of Tracks 5-10 to accommodate the new work zones. The recently reopened Atlantic Avenue ramp and stairway provide further accessible access to the concourse.
We encourage passengers to wait for their trains by the new informational digital display in the Great Space instead of congregating at the ends of the tracks, adjacent to construction work zones.
Suffolk Construction, the contractor for the South Station Air Rights Project, will continue daytime and overnight construction at South Station.
Please allow extra time (5 – 10 minutes) as you get used to new construction zones and paths of travel at the station. Trains might arrive and depart on a different track than what is typical. Be sure to check your track number before boarding.

Activity in Tower Work Zone
A new digital information display has been installed in the Great Space. This display will remain in place for the duration of this project and will provide all track information in one centralized location.
A new work zone configuration is now in place and includes sliding door access between the terminal and concourse at the ends of Tracks 5-10.
To accommodate the new work zone configuration, the bifold doors between the terminal and concourse adjacent to Atlantic Avenue have been closed. In their place, the Atlantic Avenue entrance has reopened with a new accessible ramp and stairway allowing quick access to Tracks 1-4.
The temporary infills at the ends of Tracks 9 and 10 have been dismantled, and are no longer accessible to pedestrians. Construction fencing is now located at ends of Tracks 7-12, as the tracks are shifted into their final location.
ACTIVITY RELATING TO THE OVERBUILD STRUCTURE
The overbuild structure supports the expanded bus terminal and currently covers Tracks 1-13.
Building enclosure work and interior fit out of the overbuild structure continues above the track level.
Crews continue night work in the railyard to install platform lighting, the PA and Variable Messaging System, plumbing piping, and insulation between various tracks. This work may modify paths of travel at the ends of tracks during overnight hours.

TRACK 13 WORK ZONE ACTIVITY
Crews have completed the majority of construction work adjacent to Track 13, including final paving. Remaining work, such as metal panel installation is ongoing. Due to this work, Track 13 is occasionally out of service at night.
SUMMER STREET PLAZA ACTIVITY
Summer Street Plaza work continues behind construction barriers. This area serves as the main access point for Tower Work Zone construction. A uniformed police officer is stationed when the gate is in use.
Access from Summer Street to the Concourse will be closed in the upcoming weeks to reconstruct the Summer Street Plaza. Once in place, this temporary closure is anticipated to last two to three months.
Work has commenced to reconstruct the landscaping in this area and is expected to be complete by Fall 2025.

ATLANTIC AVENUE WORK ZONE ACTIVITY
Crews continue to construct the remaining components of the building enclosure, new curbs, landscape, and hardscape elements along Atlantic Avenue.
REMINDERS
Pedestrian travel routes will be maintained and clearly delineated at all times. There will be access to CharlieCard validators used for the Fairmount Line.
Commuters traveling between the South Station Concourse and the South Station Bus Terminal are encouraged to use the Track 1 platform to bypass the Atlantic Avenue Work Zone.
