Suffolk Construction, the contractor for the South Station Air Rights Project, will continue daytime and overnight construction at South Station.
Please allow extra time (5 – 10 minutes) as you get used to new construction zones and paths of travel at the station. Trains might arrive and depart on a different track than what is typical. Be sure to check your track number before boarding.
UPCOMING ACTIVITY ON TRACK AND PLATFORMS
The Tower Work Zone has been established at the ends of Tracks 7 to 10 with a revised pedestrian travel pathway implemented. Doors leading to the headhouse at the ends of these tracks have been closed.
The common platform has expanded around the work zone, providing direct access to all tracks. Passengers will need to use the new bifold doors near Tracks 1 and 2 to access the outdoor concourse and platforms. The other sets of doors are now closed. In early April, the contractor will be infilling Tracks 1 and 2, further expanding the platform.

Some minor adjustments to track infrastructure will be completed soon at the ends of Tracks 11 and 12.
The contractor is currently working on the platform adjacent to Track 1 (Platform A). While this work is being completed, the pathway along the north side of the platform has been slightly narrowed and will remain uncovered until the steel erection is substantially completed in this area. The steel erection will begin the process of covering the entire railyard.
Beginning in early April, the contractor will start demolition work in the Tower Work Zone during the day and evenings. This work will be entirely behind the construction barriers, but customers may hear the work and experience vibrations from it. This demolition is expected to last until June.
UPCOMING ACTIVITY IN ATLANTIC AVENUE AREA
The new crane, located in the Atlantic Avenue work zone, has begun to erect the steel structure for the new bus terminal expansion and parking garage overbuild.
The lane on Atlantic Avenue formerly available for parking will continue to be used for pedestrian access around the construction zone while the steel erection work continues.
Commuters travelling between the South Station concourse and the South Station bus terminal are encouraged to use the Platform A walkway to bypass the expanded Atlantic Avenue construction zone.

Work in this area is taking place behind construction barriers. Pedestrian travel will be maintained at all times and clearly delineated. Access to CharlieCard validators used for the Fairmount Line will also be maintained.
